I
have burned the shrunk DVD movie onto the DVDR. It works fine on my computer, but I am unable to run it on the DVD Player.
Not all DVD players can read recorded DVD discs. The basic
problem is that recordable DVD discs have different reflectivity
from pressed DVD discs (DVD-ROM). Very roughly, DVD-R
and DVD+R discs work in about 85% of existing drives and
players, while DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs work in around
80%. The situation is
increasingly improved. In another few
years compatibility problems will mostly be behind us,
just as CD-R (did you know that early CD-R had all
kinds of compatibility problems?).
System
Settings about Auto-Insert Notification
AIN (Auto-Insert Notification) – Make sure that
no other program that accesses DVDs uses this function
during the burning process. If this function is activated,
the burned DVD may not be finalized correctly. In the
worst case, the operating system will deadlock. We strongly
suggest that you de-activate AIN. This is the default
setting of Windows. But if there are errors, you should
check this setting. This is very important to prevent
problems on the target computers of users of your application.
Windows 95/98/ME Settings:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'System'.
2) Select 'Device Manager' tab.
3) Click on the CD-Rom icon
4) For every CD/DVD device in the list, do the following:
Select the Device.
Select 'Settings'.
Enable 'Disconnect'.
Enable 'Sync Data Transfer'.
Disable 'Auto Insert Notification'.
Enable 'DMA' (if available).
Click on 'OK'.
5) Repeat #4 for each device.
6) Reboot the system for settings to take effect.
Windows NT4/2000/XP Settings (Windows NT4
must have Service Pack 6 installed):
Set the following registry value to disable Auto-Insert
Notification using RegEdit.exe: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom/Autorun=0
It may be necessary to have security rights
to use the DVD drives. To give DVD rights to a non-administrative
user, do the following:
1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'Administrative
Tools'.
2) Double click on 'Local Security Policy'.
3) Double click on 'Security Options'.
4) Double click on 'Restrict CD-ROM access to locally
logged-on users only'.
5) Click on Enabled.
NOTE:
DVD access is not currently possible for users with Non-Administrative
rights for Windows XP Home Operating System. Microsoft
does not provide a mechanism to provide access this type
of access. This limitation does not apply to the Windows
XP Professional Operating System.
There is
a error message "Can not authorize the DVD, please
play it with your software DVD player at first......"
when shrinking.
Some DVD writers do not support the direct authentification
of a DVD. In these cases your DVD has to be started by
a software DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD or others) at
first. Only a couple of seconds
will do just fine.
Why the shrink
preview player is rather small and punch-drunk?
Since it is NOT a player and the preview window ONLY serves
as an indicator where the shrinking process currently
is, we have implemented a small preview window. This allows
us to speed up the conversion process; on some system
the process would be significantly lower.
My DVD
drive is a DVD writer. After the shrinking from DVD disc
or burning to DVDR disc is done, I can not restart shrinking
and burning.
In certain cases, some DVD writers do not change back to
the "Ready" state after shrinking or burning
is done. If that happens the computer needs to be restarted
after the shrinking or burning of large amounts of data
(DVD).
My Intel
Active Monitor alarms constantly when shrinking from DVD
disc.
Our DVD shrink engine has been optimized specially
for Intel and AMD CPU to make high speed shrinking. High
speed shrinking will handle more CPU resource and maybe
cause your CPU monitor software alarms. Just disable the
monitor software. This is HARMLESS for your computer.
